Geneticists have always liked combining DNA of various animals together to create something entirely new. This time, they've combined a carnivore and a herbivore together to create a hybrid that has the best traits of both dinosaurs: The Ankyloraptor.

The Ankyloraptor is an omnivore. They are surprisingly more docile than the velociraptor DNA entails and much prefer to roam and scavenge for plants and gore. They do not like hunting and avoid it when they can, only going after very small prey if they are hungry.

The Ankyloraptor maintains the feathered underbelly of a velociraptor and the deadly disemboweling claws on all hands and feet. The young creature has a few feathers on its tail to start with, but they are as sharp as steel and can easily slice through other animals. The baby also sports a tough shell from its ankylosaurus ancestors and spikes along its back, making it extremely difficult for predators to get a good bite on it without being maimed in the process. Once the baby reaches adulthood, they are capable of breaking bones with their sledgehammer like tail.

Their size is a happy medium between the small velociraptor and the giant ankylosaurus, reaching about the size of a Great Dane at its biggest. Young tend to walk on their hind legs and lean forward to get a sprint, but as they grow larger, their tough ridges grow heavier, and they begin to walk more on all fours unless scouting for food or prey. They are capable of climbing rocks but avoid jumping as they get bigger for fear of leg breaks due to their weight. They are lighter than an ankylosaurus, but not as fast as the velociraptor.

The Ankyloraptors are social creatures and like to roam in small packs for safety and numbers. When alone, the dinosaur will defend itself, swinging its tail or slamming it down in displays. They often turn their backs to predators to bait them into biting their armor and spikes and dealing damage. They stand their ground, even against larger predators, especially if they have numbers on their side. If alone, they tend to curl up like an armadillo to protect their soft, feathered, underbelly. They are protectors rather than aggressors.

This sculpture is intended as a display piece, not as a toy, and can be a little heavy. The spikes are sharp and the sculpture can break if handled roughly or dropped. Please handle the baby with care! The Ankyloraptor sits slightly up or more on its back; giving you two options to display it. It leans a little as if it is moving to uncurl, so it does not sit completely flat.

The figurines are hand stamped to ensure you are receiving a unique and genuine dragon from me. Small creations generally just have my initials: B.M. When you receive your new sculpture, please open the package very carefully! Polymer clay and apoxie are durable clays, however it IS breakable! If something should occur where there is a small break, most can be repaired with a small dab of super glue. If there happens to be larger cracks or breaks such as if the piece falls, you can reach out to me, and I can walk you through repairs.

With pieces that are larger and made with apoxie, I highly recommend taking a picture of the box before you open it, and then as you open it so that we can see any damage to the box and how the package was wrapped. Big sculpture I generally double box for extra safety to prevent breaks. Rarely, things happen in the shipping process and if the box and sculpture were damaged by the post office, we need these pictures to file a claim with the post office. I also include some apoxie clay and instructions on how to use the clay for those larger sculptures.

I accept returns on a case-by-case basis, and I must be contacted within the first week of receiving the piece.

The sculptures are not toys, please be sure to keep them out of the reach of children and animals. Broken pieces or small pieces can pose as a choking hazard and should be either glued back onto the figurine immediately or thrown away.
